Shoreham Beach is a fine example of a vegetated shingle habitat of international conservation importance. It is the home to an enormous range of flora and fauna, some of it unique to the UK, such as the Starry Clover. For more information on this you may like to visit http://www.glaucus.org.uk/Adur2004.html. The Beach and the Harbour Arm are used regularly by anglers, after some tempting morsels eg mackerel,
sea bass, mackerel etc. For those simply wishing to relax then the Beach offers excellent swimming, particularly for children at low tide, when a large area of fine sand is exposed. Occasionally you will see horses being exercised galloping along the water's edge. The winter storms provide a rich strandline of flotsam and jetsam ranging from the some beautifully weathered wood to dead mammals from more exotic locations. Regardless of the weather, Shoreham and Lancing Beaches offers something for everybody - but don't tell everybody! But before setting out check the weather below to see what you need to take.
